Design Scrapbook

Inspire and Inform.

This is really interesting...

when design research really works. having been a gridiron fan during my teens, i love to see how design can enhance sport in a visually stunning way.

UNBRAND ME

Snowboarding is one of my passions. it is the ultimate sport for designers. its fast. its fun. and you get to buy / look at / drool over loads of kit. But this pic from chip chase’s blog made me laugh.

snowboarding is usually about having the new “thing” with companies bringing out season after season of new jackets , boards, technology etc.

The Backlash exercised by one rider who has taped over all the branding on the theirĀ  board, goes against all the the major company’s desire for a walking / riding billboard to advertise their brand.

It’s so refreshing to see someone exercise independent thought.

Zara Hadid: Grand Theater, Rabat, Morocco

Hadid’s Work goes from strength to strength. The 7,000 capacity grand theater in Rabat, Morocco is fluid architecture at its best.

Almost automotive in its styling, it goes beyond simply being a building to becoming its own future landscape. I love her work.

SlingBox

SlingBox: Turn the heatsync into the product. so simple. so obvious. so iconic.

We like.

Robin Day

Robin Day 1915 - 2010.

Almost anyone of a certain age has at some point sat in a Robin Day chair.

As the master of British modernism, day created object that still stand the test of time today. To the British, he was our Eames. Still practicing design up to the end, he continues to be an inspiration to all creatives. Thanks Robin.

Russian Dolls rock.

Abstract Graphic treatments skew the concept from something organic to hard, graphic and slightly Germanic.

Nice Work!

Discovered Carbon Design Groups work recently.

IĀ  particularly enjoyed the medical products as they look both functional and desirable.
